Lovejoy Launches ‘One Simple Trick’ Album and Announces Fall Tour Dates
Lovejoy’s long-awaited debut album, One Simple Trick, marks a defining moment for the indie rock band as they blend introspection, satire, and sonic ambition. With cinematic visuals, a sprawling North American tour, and a fanbase that’s grown from Reddit whispers to sold-out venues, the release signals a new chapter in their rapid rise.
According to a press release from Lovejoy’s management, the album has 11 tracks. Those include previously released singles “Common Touch,” “Pay & Display” and “With Rob As My Witness,” which have racked up almost 5 million streams combined on Spotify alone. All three music videos for these songs take the viewer through the journey of a man trapped in his own mind, but in reverse.
Of the album, the band notes, “One Simple Trick took four years of overthinking, we are excited to underthink it from now on. It’s an album of reduction and processed meat. About the loss of the tangible and the grasping of a new modern meaning.”

The album kicks into gear and pulls you in with the rather apt opening track, “Baptism,” which was released today alongside an accompanying video. The video sees frontman, guitarist and lyricist Will Gold transform into a cliché American ‘televangelist” where he sells so-called miracles, eventually concluding in his demise.
“It’s an introduction,” says Gold. “It’s the idea of: Welcome to your new life. Welcome to this new world. We live in tragically interesting times, and it does feel like the whole world is being baptised into something that I don’t think a lot of people can recognise.”

Showing no signs of slowing down, Lovejoy will embark on an extensive run of North American tour dates this fall. Kicking off on October 18, the headline run includes performances at New York’s Webster Hall, Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, DC’s 9:30 Club, Chicago’s House of Blues, Philadelphia’s Theatre of Living Arts and more. These dates see the band return to the U.S. for the first time since 2023 where they sold over 25,000 tickets on their debut North American tour. Full tour routing can be found below while tickets can be purchased at lvjyonline.com.
Most recently, Lovejoy headlined a sold-out show at O2 Academy Islington in London. The band announced this one-off, intimate show to their biggest fans on Reddit just weeks ahead of the show. It was the first opportunity for Lovejoy’s most dedicated fanbase to see them perform a mix of both unheard, and classic tracks.
In 2023, the band released their EP, Wake Up & It’s Over, which entered the Official U.K. Album Chart at #5. This followed their EP, Pebble Brain which was released in 2021 and landed at #12 on the Official U.K. Album Chart, based on streaming alone. That same year Lovejoy released their debut EP, Are You Alright?, which has amassed 500 million streams on Spotify alone.
Forming in 2021 during lockdown, Lovejoy have risen through the ranks quickly solidifying themselves as indie darlings while gathering a rabid fanbase. They have cut their teeth on the live scene, selling out shows around the world and playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds and Isle Of Wight.
With One Simple Trick, Lovejoy has delivered a debut that’s as conceptually rich as it is musically compelling—an album born of introspection, satire, and a four-year creative journey. As they gear up for their biggest North American tour yet, the band’s momentum shows no signs of slowing, and their connection with fans continues to deepen through every release and live show. Whether you’re a longtime listener or just discovering their sound, now’s the time to stream the album, grab your tickets, and join the growing wave of Lovejoy devotees.
Lovejoy are Will Gold (frontman), Ash Kabosu (bassist), Joe Goldsmith (guitarist) and Mark Boardman (drummer).
