The Second Coming Was A Moonrise<\/em> is Hammock\u2019s<\/a> upcoming album. And it is yet another progression in the duo\u2019s twenty year expedition through powerful, emotion-evoking music. It includes work that features Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd. The album combines close vocals with the duo’s sprawling cinematic soundscapes. Within the 10 tracks that make it up the album hovers between ambient sonics and emotional as well as reflective narrative. Ultimately it reaffirms Hammock as a band whose music is both ethereal and deeply human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from Hammock’s management, The Second Coming Was A Moonrise<\/em> is due out on May 22nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, the duo has shared two new tracks, including \u201cChemicals Make You Small\u201d, featuring\u00a0Wayne Coyne<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Steven\u00a0Drozd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nashville duo\u2019s latest work continues a two-decade trajectory of expansive, atmospheric compositions that move between ambient minimalism and cinematic scale. Alongside \u201cChemicals Make You Small\u201d, they also unveil \u201cThe Unsetting Sun\u201d, a slow-building piece that reflects the album\u2019s more meditative and immersive qualities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChemicals Make You Small\u201d stands as one of the album\u2019s rare vocal-led moments – an intimate, hallucinatory reflection on dislocation and emotional overwhelm. Coyne\u2019s unmistakable voice drifts through lines of quiet unease, tracing the fragile space between memory and perception, while Drozd\u2019s contributions on keys deepen the track\u2019s spectral, immersive quality<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now over twenty years into their collaboration, Byrd and Thompson continue to refine a sound that resists easy classification. \u201cBeatless ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, neoclassical\u201d<\/em>, Byrd says, noting the tags often applied to their work. \u201cOr as some of our listeners call it, loud Hammock or quiet Hammock.
