Golden Hour<\/em> \u2013 Kacey Musgraves (2018)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After previously listening to Kacey Musgraves\u2019 sophomore album for my prior entry in this series<\/a>, her follow-up album (not counting her 2016 Christmas album, A Very Kacey Christmas<\/em>, which boasts one of the best Christmas songs ever: \u201cPresent Without A Bow\u201d), Golden Hour <\/em>saw Musgraves reach even loftier critical and commercial heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Pageant Material<\/em> held onto the country trappings of her earlier work, Golden Hour<\/em> almost completely eschews them in favor of something akin to Gram Parsons<\/a>\u2019 \u201ccosmic American music,\u201d updated to the 21st<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n
