Michelle Chadwell is a Filipino-American non-fiction writer and editor interested in leveraging their knowledge in literary history to better understand societal structures and how empires are challenged. They were born and raised in Bohol, Philippines, and immigrated to South Florida. They graduated cum laude from Florida State University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in English with a minor in Communications, and International Affairs with a concentration in Political Science. At Florida State University, they served as Editor-in-Chief, leading the editorial and creative direction of The Kudzu Review, the undergraduate literary magazine. They completed their Honors in the Major Thesis for the FSU English Department titled “The Three-Body Problem and the Paradox of China.” Their research focused on the exploration of Sinofuturism as a reactive literary genre to the hegemonic global power dynamics between China and the West, specifically the United States. They are passionate about engaging communities through education on the intersection of economic injustice and immigration issues, especially in the Filipino community, and bringing together diaspora communities through cultural intervention. They are currently based in Philadelphia.
